Baumwelt Schmidt was established in 2003 by Heinrich Schmidt as a sole proprietorship (Einzelkaufmann) after he completed his training as a certified arborist. The business began with Schmidt and one apprentice serving residential clients in Berlin. Through word-of-mouth and positive reviews, the company steadily grew its reputation. In 2012, Schmidt's wife Greta joined to manage administrative operations, allowing the business to expand its service capacity. Today, the company remains independently owned and operates primarily within Berlin and nearby Brandenburg communities.

Workshop

Baumwelt Schmidt operates from a converted warehouse in Berlin's outskirts, comprising approximately 600 square meters. The entrance leads to a modest reception area where clients are received, with walls decorated with before-and-after photos of completed projects. The main workshop area is functionally organized but somewhat cramped, with designated stations for tool maintenance and repair. Climbing equipment is stored in a separate climate-controlled room to extend gear lifespan. A small kitchenette serves as both break room and impromptu meeting space, where the day's assignments are often discussed over coffee. The yard includes a small nursery area where young trees are temporarily housed before planting, alongside piles of mulch and wood chips that are byproducts of their tree work. Despite space limitations, essential pathways are kept clear in compliance with safety regulations.
