Thomas Klein
Thomas joined Baumwelt Schmidt four years ago after working for twenty years with a larger landscaping company. His extensive experience with ground operations, site protection, and debris management has been invaluable to the team. He specifically sought out a smaller company where he could have more varied responsibilities and closer client relationships after becoming frustrated with corporate policies at his previous employer.
Experience: 24 years in the green industry, specializing in tree care ground operations for the last 15 years (8/10)
Favorite Jobs
- Site setup and protection
- Wood waste recycling
- Stump grinding
Most people only notice the climbers in the trees, but quality ground operations are the foundation of safe, efficient tree work. I take pride in keeping our job sites immaculate and ensuring we leave clients' properties better than we found them.
Physical Condition
Thomas has chronic back pain from years of physical labor, especially after a work-related injury about six years ago. Today he's particularly tired and sore after a weekend spent moving his daughter into a new apartment. He's still functional but moves more slowly than usual and relies on proper lifting technique and occasional pain medication to get through the workday.
Favorite Place
Thomas's favorite place is the company's wood recycling area where he has developed an efficient system for processing removed trees into usable products. He takes particular satisfaction in seeing logs transformed into lumber, mulch used in local gardens, and firewood delivered to community members. The smell of fresh wood chips and the knowledge that nothing is wasted from their tree care operations gives him a sense of environmental responsibility fulfilled. He often spends extra time here organizing and improving the workflow processes.
