Holzkunst Müller GmbH
Stuttgart
About the company
Founded in 1978 by master craftsman Klaus Müller in Stuttgart, Holzkunst Müller began as a small workshop specializing in custom furniture. The company expanded gradually through the 1980s and 1990s, establishing a reputation for exceptional quality. In 2005, Klaus's son Thomas took over operations after completing his master craftsman qualification. The company converted to a GmbH (limited liability company) in 2010 to facilitate growth and now operates from a purpose-built workshop in the outskirts of Stuttgart.
Values
At Holzkunst Müller, we value perfection in execution, sustainability in materials, and innovation in design. We select timber from sustainable German forests whenever possible and use traditional joinery methods combined with modern techniques. Workplace safety is paramount - all employees undergo regular training, our machinery includes the latest safety features, and we maintain strict protocols regarding protective equipment and proper technique. We have not had a serious workplace accident in over fifteen years, which we attribute to our culture of vigilance and respect for the tools we use.
Workshop
The Holzkunst Müller workshop occupies a 900 square meter facility with abundant natural light streaming through north-facing windows. The space is meticulously organized, with different stations for machining, assembly, finishing, and design work. A modern dust extraction system runs throughout, connecting to all stationary machines and many of the workstations. Temperature and humidity are carefully controlled to ensure optimal working conditions for both the craftspeople and the wood. A separate machine room houses the larger equipment, keeping noise levels reasonable in the main workspace where detail work is performed.

Buying behavior
We invest in the best tools available because quality craftsmanship requires quality equipment. When we purchase, we look at the long term - I'd rather buy one excellent machine that lasts twenty years than replace cheaper alternatives every few seasons.
