Klaus Müller
Klaus founded Holzkunst Müller in 1978 after completing his master craftsman qualification and working at several prestigious workshops. Although officially retired, he still comes to the workshop three days a week to advise on special projects and share his encyclopedic knowledge of traditional techniques. His decades of experience and connections in the industry remain invaluable to the company.
Experience: Master craftsman with over 55 years of experience (10/10)
Favorite Jobs
- Advising on complex technical challenges
- Hand carving
- Mentoring younger craftspeople
Woodworking is a continuous conversation between craftsman, material, and tradition. Even after all these years, I'm still learning from each piece I make, discovering what the wood wants to become.
Physical Condition
Klaus shows the physical wear of a lifetime in the workshop, with noticeable joint degeneration in his hands and shoulders. He tires more quickly than in his younger years and has adapted his working style to focus on precision rather than physical exertion.
Favorite Place
Klaus can most often be found at what the team calls "the master's corner" – a workbench near a sunny window where he undertakes special carving projects and consults on technical challenges. This area contains his personal collection of specialized hand tools accumulated over decades, many of which he still uses daily. The walls around this space display photos of particularly significant projects from throughout the company's history, creating a living museum of the business he built.
