Lukas Schmidt
Lukas joined Holzbau Müller after completing his secondary education. He has always been interested in working with his hands and comes from a family of craftspeople, with his father working as a stonemason. He chose carpentry specifically because he was fascinated by the combination of traditional craft and modern sustainable building techniques.
Experience: Beginner with less than a year in the trade (1/10)
Favorite Jobs
- Roof construction
- Operating the CNC machine
- Learning timber joinery techniques
Every day I learn something new from the master carpenters here. What amazes me most is how the older craftsmen can look at a complex joint and understand exactly how to cut it, while I'm still learning to visualize the three-dimensional connections.
Physical Condition
Lukas is young and physically fit, though he often experiences muscle fatigue at the end of workdays as his body adjusts to the demands of the trade. Today he feels energetic and ready to work, having recovered well from yesterday's physical exertion.
Favorite Place
Lukas is particularly drawn to the company's small museum-like corner that displays historical carpentry tools and examples of joinery from past generations. During breaks, he often studies these artifacts, trying to understand how they were used and the techniques behind them. He appreciates that this space connects him to the long tradition of the craft he's learning, giving context to the modern methods he's being taught.
