Favorite Jobs
- Historic timber frame restoration
- Custom woodwork fabrication
- Mentoring apprentice carpenters
You can't rush quality woodwork - each joint and connection needs to be perfect because it might have to last a century or more. I'm not just building structures, I'm creating heritage that will survive long after I'm gone.
Physical Condition
Suffering from moderate back pain after lifting heavy timber beams yesterday. Today he is moving more slowly than usual and finding it difficult to bend over.
Favorite Place
Dieter's favorite place is the alpine forest near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. As a carpenter, he feels a deep connection to these woods where some of Bavaria's finest timber grows. He visits several times a year, often hiking to remote spots where he can study the natural growth patterns of centuries-old trees. The mountain air and connection to the source of his craft materials gives him a sense of professional continuity that spans generations.
