Stefan Bauer
Stefan has been with Elektro Schmidt for over 30 years, joining shortly after Karl Schmidt founded the company. He started as a journeyman electrician and has seen the company grow from a small family business to a respected regional contractor. Though he could have pursued a Meister qualification, he preferred focusing on hands-on work and mentoring younger electricians.
Experience: Over 40 years in the electrical trade (9/10)
Favorite Jobs
- Troubleshooting complex electrical problems
- Renovation projects in historic buildings
- Mentoring apprentices on proper techniques
The fundamentals of good electrical work haven't changed in four decades - attention to detail, proper planning, and respect for safety standards. Young people today have fancy tools, but craftsmanship still comes from the hands and mind.
Physical Condition
Shows significant joint degeneration in shoulders and knees from decades of physical labor. Moves more slowly than younger colleagues but compensates with exceptional efficiency in movement and tool use.
Favorite Place
Stefan feels most at home in the cable preparation area of the workshop, with its professional cutting and stripping machines he helped select years ago. The space is meticulously organized with different cable types arranged by size and application, with hand tools hanging in precise locations on shadow boards. He takes pride in maintaining this area in perfect order, teaching younger workers that preparation and organization are the foundation of quality electrical work.
