Klaus Hoffmann

Klaus completed his apprenticeship in East Germany before reunification and worked in a state-owned furniture factory. After reunification, he adapted to the market economy by specializing in high-end cabinetry. He joined ModernWood in 2011 after his previous employer closed during the financial crisis.

I take immense pride in the functionality of what we create – the perfect swing of a door, the smooth glide of a drawer. German craftsmanship has always been about this marriage of beauty and precision functionality, and I carry that tradition with every piece I build.

Physical Condition

Klaus is suffering from chronic back pain due to years of bending and lifting in the workshop. He wears a supportive belt when doing heavy work but today is particularly uncomfortable after helping load a large cabinet yesterday.

Favorite Place

I find the most satisfaction at our installation sites when we transform empty spaces into functional, beautiful environments. There's nothing like the moment when the last piece is installed, all adjustments are made, and you can step back to see the complete vision realized. The transition from workshop to real-world use is where our work truly comes to life.
