Robert Fischer
Robert trained as a traditional cabinetmaker but developed a strong interest in digital fabrication. He taught himself CAD/CAM programming and worked for a machinery supplier before joining ModernWood six years ago. Robert's unique combination of handcraft knowledge and digital expertise makes him particularly valuable for translating design intent into manufacturable solutions.
Experience: Highly skilled in both traditional and digital woodworking methods (7/10)
Favorite Jobs
- CNC programming and operation
- Jig design
- Production workflow optimization
- Complex curved work
I see my role as bridging worlds – translating between designer vision and machine capability, between traditional craft knowledge and digital precision. The most interesting projects are those where we push the boundaries of what's possible through this synthesis of old and new approaches.
Physical Condition
Robert is in good overall health. Today he's feeling well-rested and focused, with no physical issues affecting his work performance.
Favorite Place
My favorite spot is the transitional area between our design studio and the workshop floor. This is where the digital and physical worlds meet – where renderings become cutting lists and tool paths. I've set up a workstation here with both digital and physical samples, creating a laboratory for testing ideas before they move into production.
