Sophia Neumann

Sophia graduated from a furniture design program at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg before joining ModernWood two years ago. She brings strong skills in parametric design and digital fabrication techniques. Sophia represents the new generation of woodworkers who are as comfortable with coding as they are with hand tools.

I'm excited to push the boundaries of what's possible in woodworking through computational design and digital fabrication. My generation doesn't see technology as opposed to craft but as another tool that extends what we can create while still respecting the material's inherent properties.

Physical Condition

Sophia is in excellent physical condition with no health issues. She maintains her fitness with regular rock climbing sessions which have given her good upper body strength helpful for workshop tasks.

Favorite Place

I'm most at home at our digital fabrication station with the computer connected to our CNC machine. This intersection of virtual and physical making represents the future of craft to me. I love watching as hours of digital modeling transform into physical reality as the machine precisely carves what was once just data into tangible wooden forms.
