Fischer Holzbau & Zimmerei GmbH & Co. KG
Munich
About the company
Fischer Holzbau & Zimmerei was founded in 1952 by master carpenter Otto Fischer in Munich. The company developed a strong reputation for large-scale timber construction projects throughout Bavaria. In the 1980s, Otto's son Klaus took over and expanded into commercial construction. In 2005, the company transformed into a GmbH & Co. KG (limited partnership with a limited liability company as general partner) to facilitate growth while maintaining family control. Today, the third generation, led by Markus Fischer, has modernized operations with digital technology while expanding into sustainable construction solutions.
Values
Fischer Holzbau & Zimmerei is built on the foundation of excellence, innovation, and sustainability. We strive to be at the forefront of timber construction technology while honoring the traditional craftsmanship that built our reputation. We view our role as not just building structures, but creating sustainable environments for future generations. Work safety is integrated into every aspect of our operations, with a full-time safety officer overseeing compliance. We've implemented a comprehensive safety management system with regular training, daily toolbox talks, and incentive programs for accident-free periods. Our investment in automation for the most dangerous tasks has significantly reduced injury risks. Safety performance is tied to management bonuses, ensuring commitment at all levels. We believe our exceptional safety record is a competitive advantage, reducing insurance costs and improving our ability to attract skilled workers in a tight labor market.
Workshop
Our production facility spans over 3,500 square meters in an industrial district of Munich, representing one of the region's most advanced timber construction operations. The facility is organized into distinct production zones including a high-tech CNC manufacturing center with multiple Hundegger timber framing machines that can process beams up to 16 meters long. A separate prefabrication hall handles the assembly of wall and roof elements with automated insulation and cladding stations. The facility includes a two-story office complex with engineering departments using the latest BIM software for project planning and coordination. A dedicated quality control laboratory ensures material compliance with strict German building standards. Climate control systems maintain optimal conditions throughout the facility, while sophisticated dust extraction systems protect both workers and machinery from wood particles.
