Dieter completed a traditional masonry apprenticeship before working his way up through various construction roles. He joined Eco-Bau in 2011 after becoming disillusioned with the corner-cutting practices of his previous employer. At Eco-Bau, he has embraced ecological construction methods while bringing valuable experience in managing complex workflows and coordinating different trades.

I've built everything from conventional apartment blocks to our passive houses, and I can tell you which will still be comfortable and valuable in fifty years. Good construction is about seeing the big picture while getting every detail right.

Physical Condition

Dieter has chronic back pain from decades of construction work, which he manages with physical therapy and occasional medication. Today he is experiencing a painful flare-up after helping move materials during yesterday's delivery shortage, making it difficult for him to bend or lift even light objects.

Favorite Place

Dieter's favorite place is a passive house he supervised the construction of five years ago for a young family on the outskirts of Freiburg. He makes a point of visiting once a year, invited by the grateful owners who appreciate his attention to detail during the build. Sitting in their light-filled living room, he takes quiet pride in the perfect execution of the air sealing, the precise installation of the windows, and the comfortable, draft-free environment they create. The children's height marks on a doorframe provide tangible evidence of time passing in a home he helped create to last for generations.
