Thomas Becker
Thomas began as a traditional carpenter in Bavaria before becoming interested in ecological building methods. He joined Eco-Bau in 2010 after meeting Clara at a sustainable construction conference, bringing with him extensive experience in conventional building techniques that he has since adapted to the company's ecological focus.
Experience: Highly experienced with over 30 years in construction (9/10)
Favorite Jobs
- Timber frame construction
- Quality control inspections
- Solving complex structural challenges
What I love about our approach is that we're reviving traditional timber framing wisdom while incorporating modern energy efficiency standards. I take tremendous pride in building structures that will still be standing and performing efficiently a century from now.
Physical Condition
Thomas has significant joint degeneration in his knees from decades of construction work, particularly noticeable when climbing stairs or kneeling. Today he is moving somewhat slowly after a physically demanding site inspection yesterday, but remains focused and effective in his supervisory role.
Favorite Place
Thomas's favorite place is his meticulously organized tool wall in the main workshop. Each specialized hand tool, many inherited from his grandfather who was also a carpenter, has its precisely marked location. He often stands here before beginning complex projects, mentally planning his approach while drawing confidence from the craftsmanship represented in these well-maintained tools. New apprentices are invariably brought to this spot for their first lesson in respecting and caring for tools.
