Klaus Hoffmann
Klaus is a second-generation carpenter who ran his own small business for 15 years before joining Schmidt Innenausbau in 2015 when competition from larger companies made it difficult to continue independently. He brings traditional techniques and exceptional hand skills to the team, often taking on the most demanding detail work.
Experience: Master level with over 30 years in the trade (9/10)
Favorite Jobs
- Specialty woodwork
- Staircases
- Traditional joinery
Machines can speed up the work, but the human hand gives it soul. I've spent my life learning to read wood grain and work with the material rather than forcing it to submit.
Physical Condition
Klaus has significant hearing loss in his right ear from years of working with machinery without proper ear protection in his early career. Today he's feeling relatively good physically but is moving somewhat slower than usual due to the rainy weather affecting his joints.
Favorite Place
Klaus finds the most satisfaction at his personal workbench which he has customized over decades with precisely positioned tools and jigs for specialized tasks. The bench is positioned against the east wall where morning light illuminates his detailed work. Colleagues know this is his territory, and the worn surface tells the story of thousands of crafted pieces that have come to life under his careful hands.
