Klaus Schmidt
Klaus began his career as a forestry worker before specializing in arboriculture. He joined Baumpflege Müller in 1997 and has become one of the company's most experienced technical climbers. His exceptional rope skills and deep understanding of tree biomechanics have earned him respect throughout the German arborist community.
Experience: Master Arborist with over 30 years of experience in tree care (9/10)
Favorite Jobs
- Technical rigging operations
- Veteran tree management
- Training climbing techniques
When I'm up in the canopy, I can read a tree like a book—every reaction wood formation tells a story of how it's adapted to its environment. This intimate knowledge is what allows me to make precise cuts that benefit the tree's long-term health.
Physical Condition
Despite his age, Klaus maintains excellent upper body strength from decades of climbing. However, he experiences noticeable joint degeneration in his knees and occasional shoulder pain from repetitive movements. He's become more methodical in his climbing to compensate, focusing on technique rather than strength.
Favorite Place
Klaus's favorite place is high in the canopy of mature beech trees during early autumn. The unique perspective from 25 meters above ground gives him a sense of connection to the tree that can't be experienced from the ground. He appreciates the solitude and focus this environment demands, where every movement must be deliberate and respectful of the living structure supporting him.
