Stefan originally trained as an industrial climber working on wind turbines and tall buildings. Seeking more varied and engaging work, he retrained as an arborist and joined Baumpflege Müller in 2017. His background in industrial climbing gave him excellent technical rope skills, though he had to adapt to the dynamic nature of working in living structures.

The transition from climbing fixed structures to working in trees was humbling. Trees are living, moving systems that demand a completely different approach and respect. I'm still learning something new with every climb.

Physical Condition

Stefan is in excellent physical condition with exceptional core strength and flexibility from his climbing background. He suffered a minor cut on his left arm from a pruning saw last week which is healing well and doesn't affect his performance.

Favorite Place

Stefan's favorite place is the ancient yew tree in Frankfurt's Hauptfriedhof cemetery. He visits this tree regularly to observe how it has adapted to its environment over centuries, developing a unique structure that defies conventional tree forms. The quiet, contemplative atmosphere around this veteran tree helps him connect with the historical significance of arboriculture. He often brings new climbers here to demonstrate how age changes tree architecture and climbing approaches.
