The main workshop floor where he can observe multiple projects simultaneously. He particularly enjoys positioning himself where he can watch different master craftspeople's distinct approaches to similar problems. The workshop's sounds—hand planes whistling across wood, the rhythmic tap of mallets on chisels—have become a form of music that tells him he belongs in this ancient profession.
