Park Min-ho
Park began his career in modern construction before becoming fascinated with traditional Korean joinery techniques. He apprenticed under Master Cho for seven years after joining Hana Traditional Woodworks in 2003. His background in engineering gives him a unique perspective on combining traditional methods with contemporary building requirements.
Experience: Highly skilled with 30 years of carpentry experience (9/10)
Favorite Jobs
- Complex joinery systems
- Roof structure design
- Beam installation
Modern builders use hundreds of metal fasteners where we might use a single, precisely cut joint. There's elegance in the economy of traditional methods that solved complex structural problems with just wood, knowledge, and patience.
Physical Condition
Park suffers from chronic back pain resulting from years of heavy lifting before proper techniques were emphasized. Today he is particularly tired after completing a challenging roof assembly project that required awkward positioning for several hours.
Favorite Place
The small traditional teahouse near the workshop where he takes his lunch breaks. The building features exemplary wooden joinery visible in the ceiling structure, which he studies daily. He appreciates how the simple space demonstrates that traditional architecture can create tranquility through proportions and natural materials rather than elaborate decorations.
