Kang Do-hyun

Do-hyun graduated from a vocational high school specializing in construction trades and joined Hanyang Mokjae two years ago. He comes from a family with no background in trades but was drawn to carpentry after a school field trip to a traditional Korean palace. He is eager to learn both traditional and modern techniques and hopes to eventually specialize in timber frame construction.

I'm fascinated by how wood framing creates the invisible skeleton inside modern buildings. Every day I learn something new from the senior carpenters, and I especially value the traditional knowledge that isn't taught in schools anymore.

Physical Condition

Young and physically strong with excellent stamina. Today he is feeling healthy and energetic with no physical issues.

Favorite Place

Do-hyun's favorite place is the timber frame showroom at Hanyang Mokjae where completed structural components are displayed before being transported to construction sites. He often spends his lunch breaks studying the complex joinery and structural designs of these timber frames, taking photos and making sketches in his notebook. The precision and beauty of these exposed structural elements represent the level of craftsmanship he aspires to achieve. Sometimes he brings his friends here on weekends to proudly show them the projects he has contributed to.
